Random Trivia For This Title:

  • Early in the movie when Julia Roberts runs out to her front yard to get the paper, she quite obviously flashes her legs as she does so. Director Garry Marshall has been quoted as having given the advice, "When in doubt during the movie, cut to an animal . . . or Julia's legs."
  • During the scene where Julia Roberts drives through the town square and sees Richard Gere playing slide guitar with some "locals", Richard Gere not only played the guitar for real but he wrote the part he was playing.
  • Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Hector Elizondo, Kathleen Marshall, and the uncredited Larry Miller (NYC barman) all appeared together in Pretty Woman.
  • Richard Gere did not like the location the film was set in (Berlin, Maryland). Calling it "the sticks" he stayed roughly 15 miles away in the community of Ocean Pines during the production of the movie.
  • Garry Marshall used twins and triplets as extras in numerous scenes after noticing the high number of twins in such a small town.
  • The "platypus" face that Julia Roberts makes was added after director Garry Marshall saw her making that face to entertain his grandchildren.
  • In the softball game scene, Joan Cusack wears a "Peaches" baseball cap, a reference to A League of Their Own which was directed by Penny Marshall (director Garry Marshall's sister) and which co-starred Ann Cusack (Joan's sister).

  • Richard Gere's character Homer shares his first name with Gere's real-life father.
